Meet Brothers: We respect Anjjan's decision of pursuing a solo career

MUMBAI: After delivering hits like ‘Baby Doll’ from ‘Ragini MMS 2’ and ‘Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan’ from ‘Roy’, Meet Brothers and Anjjan announced recently that the latter will be splitting from the composer brothers. It has now been revealed that Anjjan made the decision because he wanted pursue a solo career.

“We (Meet Brothers) have been in the industry for more than a decade and Anjjan has been around only for about four years. So he thought that people only remember Meet Brothers and forget his name. According to him, he did not get his due credit, which is why he wants to pursue his solo career. Manmeet and I respect his decision. We have separated professionally, but by our hearts, we are still together like brothers,” revealed Harmeet, one half of the Meet Brothers.

The trio recently released the song ‘Nachan Farrate’ from the film ‘All Is Well’. The track is an out and out item number with vocals rendered by Kanika Kapoor. “Bhushanji called us up and he asked us to create a duet item number as Abhishek Bachchan was also going to be a part of the song, and this is what we came up with,” said Manmeet.

According to him, the singing is like acting, so to avoid being repetitive the duo asks singers to adapt various styles. “There are times that we ask Kanika to sing in a Haryanvi or a Rajasthani style, so this brings in a lot of variations,” he explained.

Manmeet also revealed that many music composers are not particular about singers being classically trained. “Today, if you have a different vocal texture, you can immediately be taken. Of course singing plays a vital role too, but more than singing, it is all about having different textures,” he added.

Meet Brothers and Anjjan have four more projects together, including ‘Heros’ and ‘Welcome Back’ which will be releasing in August and September 2015, respectively.
