MUMBAI: After fighting cancer for the last five years, Hemant Bhosle, has lost his battle against the disease. The 66 year old musician was being treated for cancer in Scotland, where he has been residing for a while.
As per sources, none of the family members have been receiving calls or talking to the media about it His sudden death was followed by a sad silence at the family's Peddar Road house, where celebrations were planned to mark Lata Mangeshkar's 86th birthday, reported DNA. The veteran singer, Bhosle, heard the news while on tour and flew back to Mumbai from Singapore, and then proceeded on to Scotland.
For Bhosle, this is the second tragic loss, after losing her daughter-Varsha a few years ago.
As per various reports, the relation between Hemant and his mother were strained over the last 10 years. Although Bhosle has flown to Scotland, there is no clarity on where the last rites will take place- in India or Scotland. Sources also revealed that Hemant and his son - Chintu, have had a strange relationship with each other. However, Bhosle and her grandson, have been very close to each other.
Hemant had composed music for more than 15 Hindi films from the late 1970s like ‘Shradhanjali’, ‘Agar’, ‘Taxi Taxi’ and ‘Barrister’ among many others.
He is the second musician in a span of a month to succumb to cancer. A couple of weeks ago, the music fraternity mourned the loss of Aadesh Shrivastava.
