MUMBAI: Grammy Award winner A.R. Rahman has been felicitated by the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan of New York. The musician was declared a World Icon there.
The event took place on the 35th anniversary of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in the USA. Rahman posted about the same on his social networking pages– “I felt nostalgic and humbled by NewYork Nagaram's Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's honour today.”

Others present at the event were Indian yogi, mystic, philanthropist and author Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, who was also guest of honour at the event. Indian American author and public speaker Deepak Chopra, and singer and Grammy nominee- Chandrika Krishnamurthy Tandon were also present.
This is just one of few accolades that the composer has recently been presented with. Earlier this month he was named the Cultural Ambassador for Seychelles, in appreciation of the invaluable services contributed to enhance Seychelles's art and cultural development. In addition to this, the Oscar winning composer will also be bestowed with the Hridaynath Mangeshkar Award in Mumbai on 26 October. It will be presented to him by veteran Bollywood filmmaker Subhash Ghai, on the birth anniversary of Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar. The function will take place at Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Hall, in Vile Parle (East) in Mumbai.
