Archana's Diary: MeA Day 10 - Salim Suleiman - Chilled out dudes born into music

So this is curtains for the fourth and biggest season of Musical-e-Azam yet. And today, we featured Salim Suleiman, two chilled-out dudes of our industry, who come from a background of musical instruments, as their father used to manufacture instruments and supply them to our illustrious artists in the film and music industry. The brothers, who unfortunately lost their father when they were in their early 20's, are musicians in the true sense. They perform in so many live gigs all over Mumbai without any pomp and show, as they believe music itself is bigger than the creators.

Radio Mirchi moves Supreme Court over royalty rate dispute

New Delhi: Entertainment Network (India) Limited (ENIL), the owner of Radio Mirchi FM, has approached the Supreme Court in a dispute with various music copyright owners, over rate of royalty paid for broadcasting music. ENIL has sought transfer of all cases pending in different High Courts on the same issue so that the Supreme Court may hear the case.

BBC Radio launches new digital radio transmitter

MUMBAI: BBC Radio has announced the launch of a new national digital radio transmitter in Wrotham, Kent. The new transmitter will be a key part in the transmission network for London and the South East. It adds around 133,000 people to the coverage of the network and improves coverage for some 7.6 million people across the whole of London, north Kent and Surrey.

Tabla artist Sandeep Das's album bags Grammy nod

MUMBAI: 'Off The Map', an album featuring Indian Tabla artist Sandeep Das, has won a Grammy nomination in the 'Best Classical Crossover Album'. Das, one of the prominent artistes from India, features in 'Sulvasutra', which is about the creation of the world. The piece was specially written for Das by a commission of Carnegie Hall. The artist has been working with silk road ensemble and multiple Grammy-winning cellist Yo-Yo Ma for the past ten years. His previous album 'The Rain' was also nominated for Grammy in 2004.
