Hangal passed away at 7.10 am at the Lifeline Emergency Care Centre in Hubli, say reports. Close family members, including her three sons and two daughters, were by her side. Born on 5 March 1913, Gangubai Hangal was an Indian classical singer of the Kirana Gharana. She studied under Sawai Gandharva.
