Pak govt invites Daler Mehndi to be ambassador of harmony and peace

NEW DELHI: Indian pop star Daler Mehndi has been invited by Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari to Islamabad as an Ambassador of Peace and Harmony. Daler Mehndi's first sufi album Bismillah is to be launched in Pakistan by the President himself. It is the first time that the President of that country has invited an Indian artiste and declared him an Ambassador of Peace and Harmony.

Channel 4 drops digital radio plans

MUMBAI: British broadcaster Channel 4 has abandoned its plans to launch three digital radio stations as it struggles to cope with financial recession  The broadcaster, reports say, can no longer afford the ?10 million cost of launching the service as the advertising revenues slump declined. Channel 4's chief executive Andy Duncan said in a statement that the decision had been taken reluctantly but the broadcaster had little choice as it was unaffordable for the enterprise.

From the body of an 86-year-old, a 16-year-old danseuse full of energy emerged. Sitara Devi held the audiences mesmerized at Bhavan's College, Andheri to the voice of veteran vocalist and Bismillah Khan's only female disciple Dr Soma Ghosh's rendition for over an hour.

Community radio Sangham to be launched in AP

Absolut Vodka sues Absolute Radio

MUMBAI: Swedish vodka brand Absolut has launched legal proceedings against Absolute Radio, the rebranded Virgin Radio, for trademark infringement. Virgin Radio was reborn as Absolute Radio on 30 September, some months after its takeover from SMG by Times of India subsidiary TIML, as the Virgin brand reverted to its owner Richard Branson.
