OnMobile strengthens hold in Africa and India by winning ringback tones business from Airtel

MUMBAI: Bangalore-headquartered OnMobile has won an agreement with Airtel Nigeria in the ringback tones business. As part of this deal, the company, which provides mobile music offering, will now provide ringback tones to Airtel subscribers in Nigeria.

With this, OnMobile, which delivers over 500 million music plays daily to mobile customers worldwide, will now add about 50 million more Airtel subscribers in Africa. Within the continent, the company already provides its services in countries like Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Madagascar, Rwanda and Malawi.

Recently, the company also managed to get a deal again with Airtel for newer markets in India. With this the company has grown from 60 million to over 115 million subscribers by expanding in states like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

OnMobile, which won the award for HR best practise, was present to Airtel subscribers in regions like Andhra Pradesh, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka.

The company has a base of more than 1.5 billion mobile users across the globe.

After the announcement, OnMobile witnessed a jump in shares, increasing by +0.95 from the last trading in the BSE, which was Rs. 98.95.

In August this year, the company announced that its signature Ringback Tone product has witnessed robust growth over the last six months. This was part of the company’s global dominance in ringback tones, reaffirming its leadership position in the mobile music space.
