Bollywood composer Palash Muchhal turns director

MUMBAI: One of the youngest composers in Bollywood, Palash Muchhal, who has composed songs like ‘Party Toh Bante Hai’ (Bhootnath Returns) and ‘Tu Hi Hai Aashiqui’ (Dishkiyaoon), has now turned his attention to directing. Muchhal has not only composed the song ‘Teri Ek Hassi’, but has also directed the video for the track, which features Nandish Sandhu and Rashami Desai.

Sung by Jubin Nautiyal, the track’s lyrics have been penned by the young composer’s sister Palak Muchhal. The track is produced by One Digital and is released under Zee Music.

“Direction was always on the cards because I want to direct a film. Since, I had a role in ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’, directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar, I paid keen attention to his work as he is a director I idolise. So before directing a film, I started with directing a video,” said Muchhal. The move has also pushed him to launch his own production house called- Cut It Okay, and has been a getting a few offers for directorial projects.

The director/composer revealed that he has 16 film projects in hand, and he believes that music direction has not taken a backseat. He also intends to start his own YouTube channel, for which he has partnered with One Digital. The channel will be launched with the female version of the track ‘Tu Hi Hai Aashiqui’, which will be crooned by his sister, Palak.

Muchhal promises that there will be more singles released very soon, as he has already started work on them. He also said that once the YouTube channel is launched, he intends to release a single with Bollywood singer, Mohammed Irfan.

His next film project is the Purab Kohli film ‘Tere Aane Se’, which will have Arijit Singh crooning a few tracks.
