Katy Perry launches very own music label and signs her first artiste

MUMBAI: After becoming one of the biggest names in the music business world over, Katy Perry is now turning her attention to helping out other music hopefuls by launching her own label company. The label- Metamorphosis Music is a subsidiary of Capitol Records and has already signed its first artiste- pop singer Ferras.

The 'Teenage Dream' singer took to her Twitter account to announce the news. Her post read "I am so ECSTATIC to finally announce my NEW label Metamorphosis Music & my first signing, the incredibly talented & soulful FERRAS! @ferras"

Ferras, on Tuesday, released his self titled EP, for which Perry is executive producer through Metamorphosis Music. The release includes five tracks of which one- 'Legends Never Die' features Perry.

Perry said in a press release announcing the signing, "Ferras is a man with a message, and a unique lyrical way of communicating his perspective on life that makes you feel connected to every note when you listen. I believe he is going to be an important artist to watch unfold."

Ferras will be accompanying the 'Dark Horse' singer on the North American leg of her upcoming Prismatic World Tour. It will kick off in Raleigh, North Carolina on 22 June and will end at Houston on 11 October.

The two first met in 2007 when they were both signed to Capitol Records. It is part of major recording label- Universal Music Group, which also owns Republic Records and Def Jam Records.
