Walt Disney Records and Verve Records team up to release compilation album

MUMBAI: Disney Music Group’s Walt Disney Records has teamed up with Universal Music Group’s Verve Records to work on a compilation album titled ‘We Love Disney’. ‘We Love Disney’ is produced by multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning producer and Verve Music Group Chairman David Foster.

Speaking on the collaborative attempt, Foster said in a statement, “When the opportunity arose to partner with Walt Disney Records, I jumped on it. The Disney franchise is something that brings out the kid in all of us. No matter how old you are, 3 or 103, when you hear the word 'Disney' you light up from within. And there is not a person on the planet who does not have a favourite Disney song. We tapped into that passion with all of the artists on the album.”

He further added, “I tried to make the songs timeless so you could not tell whether they were recorded 30 years ago or 30 years from now. The Disney catalogue is so amazing. You have so many songs to pick from, going back almost 80 years now. So it is an endless treasure and one of the most rewarding projects that I have ever done — and I have done a lot of stuff.”

Verve Records’ current artist roster boasts celebrated musicians such as Andrea Bocelli, Diana Krall, Mark Knopfler, Sarah McLachlan and Barry Manilow, to name a few. The record label, when it was launched in 1956, was the go-to label for legendary jazz musicians Ella Fitzgerald, Bill Evans, Nina Simone, Oscar Peterson, Stan Getz and Billie Holiday.

Disney Music Group is the parent company of Walt Disney Records, Hollywood Records, Disney Music Publishing and DMG Nashville. It is home to Disney's most cherished and classic films, including ‘Mary Poppins,’ ‘The Lion King,’ and Disney Pixar's ‘Toy Story,’ as well as that of the upcoming soundtracks Disney Channel ‘The Descendants,’ Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man,’ and ‘Star Wars.’
‘We Love Disney’ is scheduled for released later in October, and will feature contemporary music artists, ranging from pop, rock, R&B, and country, interpreting classic Disney hits. Artists featured on the album will be announced in the coming weeks.
