Crescendo Music ventures into film production

MUMBAI: Crescendo Music, which has been signing artists and bands, producing music and creatingmusic IPs since 1992, has now made up its mind to venture into film production. The label, founded by Suresh Thomas, now joins the ranks of a few other Indian labels like Tips Music and T-Series, by venturing into this space.

Confirming the development, Thomas said, “We are nurturing a couple of film projects, and they should be up within one and a half year.”

In addition to producing films under Cresendo Music, Suresh Thomas, under Corel Media Pvt. Ltd. - his new venture - will be co-producing the film ‘Main Aur Charles’. The film stars Randeep Hooda, Richa Chadda, Adil Hussain and Tisca Chopra, and is slated to release on 30 October, 2015.

However, the new venture will not stopping Crescendo from exploring musically. “Music is still our core business. So, we are working towards it, but there are a lot of financial restrictions with everything going digital. Thus, a company has to go beyond music to grow,” averred Thomas.

In February 2015, the company ventured into live music through its IP 'Gheun Tak' and talks were on to organise two more ‘Gheun Tak’ events across Maharashtra from October onwards. However, Thomas revealed that there are no current discussions to develop the property any further. 'Gheun Tak' was a property developed to promote new talent, with the first edition featuring performances by Midival Punditz, The Liquid Bass Project, Krazy Electrons, Agnee and Ankur & the Ghalat Family.
