Zee Music company clarifies its stand on Sonu Nigam terming it a "business decision"

MUMBAI: Music Label Company Zee Music has issued a statement in order to clear the air regarding its ban on popular Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam. The statement came in the form of a Twitter post, which Zee Music put out, a view that is supported by Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd.

The company said, "Zee respects freedom of speech and stands by it. Zee Music company choosing not to work with any talent is based on business decision only."

In the statement the company also said that "as a pioneer of the private satellite television industry, Zee has always aimed at creating talent for the entertainment industry. Zee's leading shows like SAREGAMA, Hum Paanch, Dance India Dance, etc. have proven as a platform for many stars of the present era. With its rich and engaging content for over two decades, Zee has created a family of over 959 million viewers."

It further stated, "Zee has defined the word 'Entertainment' for the nation, and will continue to enrich the entire world with its content. Zee believes in nurturing talent and giving it the correct exposure and help build on it."

It all started after Sonu Nigam posted a tweet along with a video titled 'Zee News Exposed 'Latak Gaya' voiceover', after which Nigam posted a series of tweets in which he confirmed that the label had banned him. Post his revelation, the singer did get a lot of support from his fans on Twitter through the hashtag #IStandWithSonuNigam, which trended throughout the day on the micro blogging site.
