Ziro Festival announces first set of the 2016 line-up: Shye Ben Tzur, Skrat and more

MUMBAI: Ziro Festival of Music reaches its fifth year, and the organisers have announced the first ten acts that would perform at the 2016 edition. Among the revealed names, the Israeli-Indian project ‘Shye Ben Tzur and The Rajasthan Express’ clearly becomes the biggest act or as it’s termed – ‘the headlining act’, so far.

The line-up also reveals two other international acts that include Italian alternative rock band ‘Gramlines’ and Pakistani songwriter Natasha Humera Ejaz. The festival will be held on 22, 23, 24 and 25 September 2016 in its home of Ziro Valley based in Arunachal Pradesh.

Among the Indian acts, arguably India’s most popular and loved Blues act ‘Soulmate’ would perform at the event once again.

Chennai’s three-piece alternative act ‘Skrat’ returns to the festival circuit, and so far remains the only representative of the south. Assam’s ‘Elephant in The Elevator’ becomes the third alternative rock band to join the line-up, followed by two bands from Nagaland – experimental electronic duo ‘Akummikka’ and four-piece folk rock act ‘Abiogenesis’.

Delhi’s ‘Smooth Relax’ and electronic duo ‘Ija’ complete the first list of the line-up.
