Music On The Run

MUMBAI: On 10 September, over 5000 enthusiasts will gather at the start-line of a 5km long marathon, called the ‘Music Run’ in Bengaluru. What makes the marathon different from other similar runs executed in the country (and globally) is the dominance of music throughout the event.

Debuted in 2014 in Malaysia, the concept ‘Music Run’ debuts in India this year and the multi-purpose Sports Brand & Marketing company ‘Baseline Ventures’ played an instrumental role in ensuring so. Considered as the ‘World’s Loudest 5K Run’, the marathon covers five different musical genres throughout the run including Rock, Pop, hip-Hop, Retro and Dance, in that order. Spaced out approximately 40m from each other, 120 loud speakers – sound engineered by Harman – would accompany the runners with music till the finishing line.

The Music Run™ is the only crowdsourced running event in the world. Participants control the soundtrack of the run by using the ‘Music Voting App’. They can vote for their favourite songs in the build up to the event and the songs with the most votes make the official run playlist. The runners can cast their vote on www.themusicrun.com/events/bengaluru.

The first kilometer would feature curated playlist from the genre of ‘Rock’, followed by ‘Pop’ that would be curated by the official style partner ‘fbb’. Third on the track would be ‘Retro’, followed by ‘Hip-Hop’ with Adidas and the presenting sponsor ‘Fast Track’ would curate the ‘Dance’ part of the run, stretching along the last 1 km. Every genre would occupy one kilometer of the run.

Speaking about the marathon, Co-Founder of Baseline Ventures, Vishal Jaison said, ““The Music Run™ operates in a very unique space amongst running events. It is a perfect combination of fitness and music. Ever since the walkman came out in the early eighties, running and music have gone hand in hand. We are extremely happy to welcome Fastrack as the Presenting Sponsor and other leading brands as partners to The Music Run™. Fastrack is a perfect fit for a future focused event like The Music Run™. Starting with Bangalore, The Music Run™ will take place across multiple cities in India and will be a permanent fixture in the running & entertainment space.”

CEO Watches & Accessories Division and EVP, Corporate Communications of Titan Company Ltd., S. Ravi Kant said, “Fastrack is an energetic brand, which pushes boundaries and has created a sense of belonging by being the voice of the youth. Our partnership with The Music Run™ is a representation of what it means to be young, have fun and live a healthy life. We are excited to be part of this festival, as it truly captures the essence of our brand. We are pleased to be partners with a large-scale experiential event and are looking forward to making The Music Run™ come alive. We urge our fans to join in and be a part of this unique experience with Fastrack."

With the event successfully held in 25 cities so far, Baseline Ventures become the official license holder for the initiative in India, and the organisation would soon announce the dates for the Delhi edition, supposed to be held in February 2017. The organisation plans to explore two new cities every year, and the unfamiliarity towards the concept surely has not become a matter of concern for the organisers. The Bengaluru edition has already sold 3000 tickets so far, priced for at least Rs. 1000, and the number can rise to 7000 before the event kicks off.

The event would conclude with a concert performances from Australian ‘DJ Gyro’ and Mumbai-based electronic producers ‘Lost Stories’. The Bengaluru event will be held at Clarks Exotica – the venue partner of the Music Run.
