The St. Regis Mumbai introduces 'Jazz Legends At St.Regis'

MUMBAI: Throughout the legendary Jazz Age, The St. Regis New York played host to some of the finest Jazz musicians and connoisseurs in history. Building upon this legacy, inspired the inception of the program 'Jazz Legends'. The St. Regis Mumbai was thrilled to launch 'Jazz Legends' for the very first time in India, featuring the debut performance of 'The Ash Chandler Experience’ with his band, Redux on Wednesday, 23 November at the infusion-themed bar Luna Nudo on Level 37. This event marks the prelude to the start of the series of ‘Jazz Legends’ from January 2017 at The St. Regis Mumbai.

The performance, which was open to public and select invitees, was held overlooking the stunning views of the bay. Chandler put up an enthralling performance with featured songs meant to be both popular and obscure in that they are not commonly performed in a live setting in India. While the band belted out some of the greatest jazz standards, the new ensemble expanded from the strict repertoire of jazz standards to include several popular numbers from various genres. The band played some of the latest and some of the most iconic songs of today, completely rearranged and all brought back in other classic genres like Cha-Cha, Latin and Swing.

Seen enjoying the evening was Farhan Akhtar, Sonakshi Sinha, Arjun Khanna, Fahad Samar, Suresh and Devika Bhojwani, Malavika Sanghavi, Ashish Raheja, Colston Julian, Devraj Sanyal, Sabina and AD Singh, Alex Kuruvilla, Kishore and Leena, Devita Saraf, Junelia Aguiar and Acquin Pais.

Anuraag Bhatnagar, Area General Manager, India – Marriott International and General Manager, The St. Regis Mumbai says, “Jazz is one of the intrinsic rituals of The St. Regis hotels across the globe. It will be our pleasure hosting jazz enthusiasts in the city with quality jazz performances and bespoke culinary experiences.
