MUMBAI: One of the biggest music streaming apps, Apple Music that was launched over three years ago, in over 100 countries, has surpassed 50 million global subscribers and comprises of 45 mn songs.

The app is planning to launch more features, of which, the first one is the Friends Mix with iOS12.. With this, you actually get to listen to the music you liked in your friend's playlist. If you got songs in your friend’s playlist, which you don’t like, these would be a part of your Friends Mix. So it’s all personalized to a whole different level.

Besides, their second feature, called “Apple Music for Artists”. These pages will showcase artists, participating in their program, with the similar title, launched last year. These artists will have the ability to control both their image and their career on the app. They have been focusing, extensively, on this program. Their work discography will be featured here.

Besides, in its three years of existence, Apple has imparted various features. Earlier they had launched music videos that happened to be a big win for their market in India.

Apple Music does comprise Bollywood, International, regional music and heavily on the Independent front. What they also did differently, three years ago, was they had launched Apple Music on Android.

They have had established platforms to support local artists, which include Hear it Hear. (HIHF) celebrates Apple Music’s Exclusive release on monthly basis. For example, Taarefaan (Veere Di Wedding) with Zee Music. They also have new artist Spotlight, which is dedicated to the launching of at least one new artist, every month, with an exclusive release. Examples include Prabh Deep, MADM, Sutej Singh amongst others.

So far, Apple Music has supported over 40 exclusive releases, across both programs in India. In terms of its weekly shows, Apple Music has partnered with Radio City to launch the biggest Bollywood Chart show in India called ‘Apple Music Top 25’ with Radio City. This weekly show is dedicated to Bollywood and plays the top 25 most streamed songs on Apple Music, every Saturday and also features local artists’ interviews.

Also, they have Top 100 list which will be a part of  the  iOS12 which makes it easy to view the top 100 songs, available across the world. In addition, Apple Music also has playlist of top songs for the top music producing countries. These charts are available everywhere and are updated every day. They can even be added to your Library like a playlist and will automatically get updated.

 Apple Music curation and localisation for Indian music:

Apple Music branded playlists like A-List and Today’s Hits with Indian content in mind, offers playlists like A-List Bollywood, A-List Tamil, A-List Punjabi to cater to the local market.

They comprise of 14 localized radio stations, which are a combination of popular local languages like Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi and Bengali. They also have stations for different eras of music like 90s Bollywood Radio, Telugu Romance and Hindustani Classical to name a few.

Apple Music has partnered with all leading International, Indian and regional music labels that cater to varied tastes and preferences of listeners. The app promises to bring more features.
