YouTube Music crosses three million mark within weekÆs time
MUMBAI:  On its 11th anniversary in India, YouTube launched its music app in the country. And the response has been phenomenal as within a week’s time of launch, the app was downloaded by three million subscribers. This humongous number was garnered despite entry of Swedish music giant Spotify in the already crowded music streaming landscape.

Google launched both Youtube Music and YouTube premium app. The latter is a paid service, which is ad-free music streaming, where as YouTube Music is ad-supported.

While data prices have been slashed by most of the streaming services to attract more subscribers, YouTube is no way behind. The price of YouTube Music Premium membership is as low as  Rs 99 per month per user, while The iOS app charges Rs 129 per month per user. For family membership (catering to six members), the cost is Rs 149 per month on android and Rs 199 monthly on iOS.

On completion of 11 years and crossing a landmark figure when it comes to the app download, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki shared a statement  with news wire agency IANS saying, “This year YouTube is celebrating 11 amazing years in India. We’re proud of the extraordinary growth across the platform, especially with music.”

“Our tremendous scale and reach is why many talented artists and creators across India come to YouTube to share their voice with the world. It’s why we’re seeing Indian artists connect with fans from Delhi to New York and everywhere in between,” she added.

The app is available for download on both desktop and handheld devices.
