Ousted but not out - Charanjit Ranjit continues working on music post The Stage

MUMBAI: Charanjit Ranjit, the latest contestant to get eliminated from Colors Infinity's 'The Stage 2', is a self-taught singer with a lot of love and admiration for music.

Ranjit learned about his singing capabilities during his school days and went on to become a church singer at the age of 14. This was also when he learned to play the keyboard. Gradually, this interesting hobby became his passion and he invested some time in self-learning.

"I couldn't read music notes because I am not a trained singer. That is why I started learning the music notes to make it easier for me to read the notes," confessed Ranjit.

The artiste later went on to enrol himself into a Hindi classical singing class. "It helped me get clarity in my singing. Rest whatever I have learned, is on my own."

Ranjit also formed a band named H2H. The band was active from 2011 to 2013 and participated in various music festivals in Mumbai. "We were also the amongst the Top 5 bands in IIT Mumbai Fest. It was a good experience," stated the singer who has had an interesting musical journey.

In 2013, Ranjit took a break from his band and forayed into a solo music career. "I shifted to Chennai and then Bengaluru where I joined a band named Jukebox. I played for them and it was a good experience as the other members were from well-known bands. Our drummer was from Swarathma. I also did a lot of freelance work from 2013 to 2014."

2016 turned out to be a year of fame for the singer as 'The Stage 2' happened to him. "I auditioned for 'The Stage' and kept my fingers crossed. Luckily I got through and it has been an amazing journey. When I got on to the show, I wasn't sure how far I would go. But, I did want to make it to the top," stated Ranjit.

The elimination that took place on 22 October 2016 did come as a shock to the singer as he did not expect it. "I did not see that coming, but I did get a lot to learn from the show."

Ranjit, who also happens to be a music teacher in a school, is working on his music at present. "I am focusing on my original music. Looking forward to releasing it soon."

We wish you luck Ranjit.
