MUMBAI: In a city known for its dynamism and spirit, Mumbai has added another feather to its cap by hosting the SBI Green Marathon in association with Mirchi Season 5. Held at the MMRDA grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbaikars came together to champion the cause of sustainability through an event that goes beyond finish lines.

The SBI Green Marathon, in partnership with Mirchi, has always stood as a testament to a sustainable lifestyle. From the onset, the commitment to greener practices is evident. Participants received organic t-shirts, and bibs that can be planted.

The MMRDA grounds, a place that often sees the hustle and bustle of urban life, transformed into a hub of green activity as 10,000 enthusiastic runners sprinted towards the goal of a better tomorrow.

With running categories encompassing 5KM, 10KM, and 21KM, the event ensured that everyone from casual joggers to seasoned athletes had a route to run. The marathon's certification by AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races) further encouraged participants, offering them global recognition within the marathon community.

The event was flagged off by distinguished members of the State Bank of India, including Shri Challa Sreenivasulu Setty - Chairman, Shri Vinay M Tonse - MD (RB & O), Shri Ram Mohan Rao Amara - MD (IB,GM & T), Shri Rana Ashutosh Kumar Singh – MD (R, C & SARG), Shri Binod Kumar Mishra – DMD (HR) & CDO, Smt Jayati Bansal – DMD, (IBG), Shri Shamsher Singh - DMD (TRANSACTION BANKING & NEW INITIATIVES), Shri Shiva Om Dixit - DMD (OPERATION-CHANNEL MANAGEMENT), Smt Ruma Dey - DMD & GROUP COMPLIANCE OFFICER & Shri Gulshan Malik - DMD (COCG-I), CCG CC who took the lead in championing this green initiative. The presence of RJ Megha and RJ Dnyaneshwari from Mirchi Mumbai added to the event's vibrancy. They kept the energy high, engaging with participants and sharing the experiences of both runners and SBI representatives.

A standout moment of the Mumbai edition was the participation of the Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, and Indian Army. Their involvement not only elevated the event's significance but also highlighted the collective commitment to a shared mission, emphasizing the strength of collaboration across India's defense forces.

To guide and motivate all participants, prominent ambassadors of the running community such as Vinod Kumar Sharma, Barun Kumar, Vishak Krishnaswamy, Ashish Arya, Sarika Jain, Raj Gandhi & Rinkoo Singh were present, ensuring everyone pushed beyond their limits. The event saw a diverse group of runners, from beginners to experts, united by a common cause.

Waste management for the marathon was expertly handled by Skrap, ensuring that all waste generated was collected and set for recycling, keeping the event in line with its sustainability goals.
