AIR launches new station in Dehradun

MUMBAI: All India Radio spread its wings to Uttarakhand as it launched its station in Dehradun yesterday, 29 June 2017. Minister of Information and Broadcasting M. Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated the station of AIR and Doordarshan.

Naidu pressed the button to launch the inaugural regional news bulletin of Doordarshan, Dehradun. In his address on this occasion the Minister congratulated the people of Uttarakhand and said that with the launch of this station, a long pending demand of this region has been fulfilled.

He further announced that Doordarshan Kendra, Dehradun will be functional 24×7 within a year. He also said that besides programs in Hindi and English, most of the programs will be broadcast in the regional languages of Garwhali, Kumoni and Jaunsari.

The regional new bulletin of DDK, Dehradun went on-air yesterday at 6:30 pm on terrestrial mode. And this will be backed with one more Hindi bulletin telecast on satellite mode from 15 July at 8 pm and it will be relayed by DDK Lucknow.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said, “With the launch of this center, the culture and tradition of Uttarakhand will get wider identification, besides broadcast of reliable news. In addition to this communication with the masses will be quicker at times of natural calamities. He said that the prime minister’s program ‘Man Ki Baat’ has made the All India Radio livelier.”

Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, BJP MP of parliament from Tehri, Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah and Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank were present at the launch.
