MUMBAI: Prasar Bharati Chairman Dr. A Surya Prakash recently spoke on how All India Radio plays a vital role in spreading important news and government schemes to every nook and corner of the country. He was acknowledging the noteworthy contribution on the occasion of National Broadcasting Day, which was celebrated nationwide yesterday.

He further added, “Over the years, radio has evolved significantly and now all the channels of All India Radio are available on digital platforms.”

Prasar Bharati CEO Shashi Shekhar Vempati too spoke to AIR on the significance of radio, “Radio as a medium has a long history in India and has played a key role in critical moments in the journey of our nation in the last few years. The honorable PM has chosen this platform as a preferred medium for social and behavioral change. This is a day on which, we remember the history of radio and we look towards the future of it.”

In terms of live updates, Prasar Bharati and Doordarshan had brought a unique flavor to all cricket fans, where the broadcaster brought live updates of every match. Radio commentary was made available on their YouTube channel along with sign language for hearing and visually impaired.
