All India Radio's DG uses in house networking facility to connect with subordinates

MUMBAI: Pubcaster All India Radio (AIR) has set-up a new system which will allow the Delhi based AIR's director general and other senior officers to have radio conferencing. This will enable them to address all stations simultaneously at a fixed time on any day from their chambers. The conference will cover all stations of AIR network throughout the country including Indian Islands.

The facilities of conferencing have been created at state capitals and some other important cities. The first radio conference was successfully organised on 18 September 2014 at 11.30 am. The DG addressed matters pertaining to the professional and administrative importance. Later, the programme and engineering heads of various stations in the network interacted with DG as well.

The pubcaster hopes to utilise the facility in the future extensively for speedy implementation of time bound schemes.

The message is being distributed simultaneously to all stations using AIR's own in house networking facility at captive Earth station New Broadcasting House, New Delhi.

The distribution takes place through satellite INSAT- 3C and / or GSAT 10 which are being used by AIR for its radio networking all over the country through 32 earth stations and over 200 receive stations distributed over length and breadth of the India including Andaman and Lakshdweep Islands.
