MUMBAI: Keeping the celebration spirit high Radio City, country’s leading radio network, welcomes the festivities for 2016, by bringing the nation together, over the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, Pongal and Lohri. Radio City has lined up special offerings for its listeners during Sankranti, also celebrated as Uttarayana, Pongal and Lohri across various parts of the country. Radio City and Radio Mantra is celebrating the fervour and gaiety of the festival with a mix of special contests, coupled with loads of goodies and some fantastic music.

The skies are filled with kites on the auspicious day of Makar Sankranti and Radio City assures that the skies are not left empty. Across Maharashtra, Gujrat, Jaipur, Hyderabad- Radio City distributed thousands of Radio City branded kites, which the listeners could win by being a part of exciting contests.

Celebration spirit would be high in, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Pune, who would witness the ‘Radio City Patang Party’. A one of a kind activity, where listeners will mingle with Radio City RJ’s and fly kites, sway to some great music, eat and make the most of the festival. This activity will be celebrated at Karnavati Mall in Ahmedabad, Pink Square Mall – Jaipur and Inorbit Mall –Pune. Radio City always makes sure that everyone’s happiness soars to newer heights.

Lohri holds great significance for Indians, especially in the North. To make it more special, Radio Mantra, celebrates the festival with the people of Jalandhar. The entire activity would revolve around celebrating Lohri with its listeners from Jalandhar, Radio Mantra team along with the RJs will visit highly populated market places to celebrate the festival. The festival will be rejoiced across 10-12 markets. A Grand Lohri will be celebrated with families for whom this Lohri holds a special place in their life.

Bangalore celebrates Sankrati, with Radio City ‘Yalli Sihi Sankrathi’ by distributing ‘Ellu Bella’ a traditional sweet of Karnataka amongst its listeners. Radio City’s loved character ‘Gifteshwara’ will shower gifts to the lucky listeners during this auspicious festival.

With the latest flood that struck Chennai, the city rose as one to overcome the disaster. Chennaite’s came together and shared the basic necessities with the flood victims celebrating the humanitarian spirit. To celebrate this essence, Radio City Chennai has come up with an on air activity for Pongal – ‘Sharing Santhosham’. Radio City will conduct on air games during the festival where listeners can win double gifts and share one of them with their friend or family member. The contest will be conducted in three phases and will revolve around Kollywood.

As a part of the Pongal celebrations, Radio City Coimbatore, will dish out gifts to listeners on-air. Radio City RJ’s will play ‘Jallikattu’ with the listeners on-air that will comprise of three rounds of questions. With every passing round, exciting gifts will be won, with one daily winner laying claim to the Mega Prize.

In Vizag, Radio City will rejoice, Radio City ‘Muggu’. Radio City would invite all its lady listeners to participate in a Rangoli Competition. Radio City RJ’s will visit five different RWA’s and out of them will crown the best Muggu. The listeners can be a part of this exciting competition by sending in an SMS.
