Radio Nasha shifts focus to weekend programming

MUMBAI: Radio Nasha, HT Media Ltd.'s second radio station that mainly plays Bollywood music from ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s has received very warm response from listeners and advertisers alike. And, in an attempt to increase their 61 lacs listenership (in Delhi as per RAM reports) that the station has managed to earn in just four months; they will be roping in more celeb RJs.

On Radio Nasha stockpiling celeb RJ's for their weekend shows, an official source from Nasha said, "In the initial 90 days of Nasha, we kicked off a weekday launch. Now, the focus is on weekend as part of the next 90 days."

"Therefore, we launched Disco Station, Salim Khan and Sameer Anjan for weekend," added the source.

Nasha started the trend with bringing Anil Kapoor on board from the film industry as a radio jockey for morning show 'Jhakkas Mornings'. Even director Satish Kaushik, who hosts 'Filmy Calendar' and Amit Kumar, who has become RJ for the show 'Krazy For Kishore' belongs to the industry.

After blockbuster opening for first three months, Nasha decided to make it bigger for last days of the week. "The strategy behind launching big names is to create reasons to sample a new station. We have fresh sounds, huge activities and as brand ambassadors we bring on big names likes Anil Kapoor, Satish Kaushik and Amit Kumar," explained the official.

He further added, "Not just pretty girls, but we try to bring people who are relevant to that era and who have stories that all of us want to hear. Therefore, we brought veteran writer Salim Khan, who will share his experiences from biggest of his films like 'Sholay'."

Nasha also launched prolific lyricist Sameer Anjaan as an RJ for a show 'Safarnama' which airs every Saturday-Sunday at 3pm.

This does not stops here. Many more celebs will join the existing celeb RJs club at Nasha.
