Radio One Ahmedabad acquires Big FM's Annu Kapoor show, strengthens 'retro' positioning

MUMBAI: Imitation may have been the biggest form of flattery till now. Acquiring a rival network's popular show should probably rate higher than that.

Radio One, which prides itself as being India’s only differentiated radio network has acquired rights to air Big FM’s marquee show ‘Suhaana Safar with Annu Kapoor’ for its Ahmedabad listeners. The show takes listeners through the unexplored lanes of Hindi Cinema. With the show, the radio network aims at bringing captivating and insightful stories through the voice of one of the most revered actors, RJ Annu Kapoor. The show that started airing in Ahmedabad from 3 October 2016 for Radio One’s retro-listeners, airs in the 10 to 12 pm time band.

The show has become one of the most heard and loved shows in the history of radio. ‘Suhaana Safar with Annu Kapoor’ has won several awards, including ‘Best Radio Programme (Hindi - For Non-Metro Stations)’ at India Radio Forum Awards 2016. In addition, Annu Kapoor has won numerous accolades for his splendid narration, and was also selected as the Best RJ at the prestigious Golden Mike Awards, New York Festival Awards and the India Radio Forum Awards in 2015. He has also been voted the Best RJ (Non–Metro) for 2 years consecutively, and has recently been conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award for the show.The show has been consistently rated as the number one show on the 10 am - 12 noon time band, ‘Suhaana Safar with Annu Kapoor’ on 92.7 BIG FM’s Mumbai market and has helped establish a strong connect between today’s audience and yesteryear stars.

The station broadcasts at 94.3 MHz in all cities except in Ahmedabad where it broadcasts on 95.0 MHz Radio One Ahmedabad is the city’s only retro station.
