'Redtro Jam Project' to go on-ground; Season 2 in pipeline

MUMBAI: Radio as a medium has to constantly reinvent itself to stay in touch with this fast-moving world of social media. Thus, we constantly keep hearing about radio stations inventing and reinventing themselves through new shows and live events.

Redtro that entered this completive space in mid-2016 too is leaving no stone unturned to be on the top of the chart. In September 2016 the radio station launched a unique concept called ‘Redtro Jam Project’, that is a huge digital property for the radio station.

The main objective of ‘Redtro Jam Project’ is to celebrate the 90’s songs with today’s singers.

“Regardless of the delivery platform, we want to revive and relive the pure joys of unplugged, acoustic music. That is the crux of the Redtro Jam Project. This is just one of the few surprises through which Redtro 106.4 has begun to differentiate niche radio. Redtro Jam Project – Afreen – is the culmination to the great maiden season. We are enthralled by the support that we have received from listeners and netizens alike – literally in millions. While ‘The Woman in Nineties’ Cinema’ is our theme for this concert, we will return with one more session that is a combination of the on-air, digital and live experiences. Musical experiences that make you come alive,” Redtro 106.4 FM and Red 93.5 FM COO Nisha Narayanan,

26 artistes performed in ‘Redtro Jam Project Season 1’. Few names that performed in the first season are Khushboo Grewal, Teesha Nigam, Aaman Trikha, Sukriti and Prakriti Kakkar, Pratichee Mohapatra, Rahul Pandey, Amit Mishra, Aaryan, Harshdeep Kaur, Vishwajeet Borwankar, and Jaspreet Jasz. Bollywood playback singer Jubin Nautiyal featured twice on the show.

Given the response, the Redtro team now plans to take the segment on-ground on 29 March at Royal Opera House, Mumbai. The opening act of the on-ground event will be Surfira Band well-known as the ghazal weavers. The band has been mentored by Kailash Kher. Other artistes to be performing are Monali Thakur and Aarti Ankalikar.

This successful property will have another season. The Redtro team has plans of airing the next season of ‘Redtro Jam Project’ in six to seven months. They are also looking forward to getting many more known artistes onboard this time.
