MUMBAI: The recent sudden shutdown of radio stations in Mumbai had affected, both, radio stations and Mumbaikars. Revealing details about the incident, BIG FM Country Head Sunil Kumaran said, “There was a fire incident in the transmitter room of Radio Mirchi at Mumbai CTI site and all private FM stations were off-air between 8.30 am to 12.30 p.m. For precaution sake, our engineers had shut down the system and all electrical and other parameters were checked and the room was properly cleaned. We re-started transmission at 12:30 p.m.”

People in Mumbai couldn’t tune into their favourite morning shows. On this, Kumaran said, “Unfortunately our listeners were not able to enjoy parts of our Morning Show with Siddharth and our flagship show Suhaana Safar with Annu Kapoor. There were numerous calls from listeners especially because they are habitual to listening to RJ Siddharth for their morning dose of trending news and traffic updates etc. Also, as Suhaana Safar with Annu Kapoor has a huge loyal base, we started getting a barrage of calls from ardent listeners, who missed the rich trivia and the astute style of Annuji’s delivery.”

But the radio jockeys and the team of BIG FM Mumbai ensured to inform their listeners and keep them updated about the unexpected incident.

“As our responsibility towards our listeners, we took to social media and tweeted about the same on our Facebook page and Twitter handle and made them aware about the unfortunate incident,” Kumaran told.

He further said, “It was unfortunate but normalcy was back at 12:30 p.m. as listeners continued to enjoy RJ Rani’s Khushiyon ka Lunchbox show.”

Meanwhile, it is for the first time that such an incident occurred in the city that never stops. But, it did make Mumbaikars realise the importance of radio in their life.
