RJ Jyonita is Asia's first RJ to take radio to the skies

MUMBAI: BIG FM Pune’s RJ Jyonita is all set to go live from the skies (approx 2.000 ft from the land and 3500 ft from the sea level - MSL). It will be the first ever live radio show, where an RJ will go paragliding for an hour. Her noteworthy feat is a part of her attempt for the Asia Book of Records that will document her performance.

The objective of this campaign is to give ‘Dhun Badlo’ angle to live shows. The RJ will be connected to studio Telos system via cell phone for her sky interaction with listeners. The radio jock will be talking about BIG FM’s second anniversary and her experience as an RJ with the radio station.

The idea behind doing such a bizarre show is interesting. We asked Jyonita whose brainchild it is. On this she revealed, “BIG FM has always been there in other markets but in Pune specifically, it’s the station’s second anniversary. On the same, I was thinking of doing something special. I got a call from my friend, who is a pilot and this idea struck me during one of our meetings.”

She further added, “Marketing plays an important part as the team needs to see about different aspects like the setup, budget, and technicality.”

While the entire prep happened in a 15-day time frame, the challenge to execute the project is a task.  Speaking about this, Jyonita explained, “I am going to be three thousand feet above the sea level will be in the scorching heat for an hour. This is the biggest challenge. It takes willpower to do something like this and staying calm is important. We will be judged on the connectivity we have with the audience.”
