Digital can be an extension, not focus of radio: RJ Abhilash, BIG FM

MUMBAI: BIG FM RJ Abhilash Thapliyal, whose hit show Mumbai Ka Sabse Bada Struggler ranks number one on Mumbai’s drive time slot, has spent more than 12 years in the industry. With such a huge experience the RJ has had, we were curious to know what notion he has about the current radio industry.

“I feel radio stations should introduce new jocks. It’s a big fight for new RJs to make their way into the industry. It’s a conscious call people should take on how new jocks will enter the business. Besides, they need to consider the number of ads time spent per ad.”

While he thinks that these days radio stations are focusing more on the digital medium, “On one extent I feel it’s good to experiment, but primarily your business is radio. Digital can be an extension but should not be your focus. Radio as a platform is very different and people tend to get confused,” expressed RJ Abhilash.
