BIG FM Bengaluru, Mangaluru provides ray of hope to people stuck in flood affected areas
MUMBAI: The monsoon this year has been a nightmare for millions of families in South India including several parts of North Karnataka, Coastal Karnataka, and Kerala. 92.7 BIG FM, one of the largest networks in the country, has time and again been the torch bearers of initiatives done for the betterment of the society. BIG FM, in association with Gandhadagudi Foundation, kick-started a mission to extend a helping hand to the families struggling in flood-affected areas of Karnataka by supplying necessary relief materials to these areas. BIG FM Mangalore’s RJ Errol who is spearheading the whole initiative through his show, Take it Easy is joined by Pat Pat Pataki Shruti from Bengaluru who is also urging listeners to donate their bit, on her morning show, Pataki Mornings.

92.7 BIG FM, along with GandhadaGudi Foundation, set out with massive trucks to bring much needed relief with the supply of necessities for flood affected families covering four districts of Karnataka - Hassan, Bagalkote, Jamakandi, Belthangady and Coorg. Moreover, BIG FM also ensured the distribution of basic necessities to the troubled citizens at rescue camps including Kalaji Kendra and safety masks to volunteers. RJ Errol has been in constant touch with the respective authorities like DC North and South Karnataka and media for spreading authentic messages on-air, social media and through Whatsapp to avoid fake messages which creates unnecessary havoc and chaos. In the 2nd phase of the campaign, BIG FM has tied up with Habitats for Humanity NGO, who will join the radio station in its initiative and plans to build 500+ houses covering majority of the areas in North Karnataka and Coorg.

Speaking about the revolutionary work done in order to help the flood affected families, a spokesperson from BIG FM said, “We, at 92.7 BIG FM, believe in bringing a positive change through our platform. Our RJs have always been proactive towards issues that affect our society. The association with GandhadaGudi Foundation and Habitats for Humanity has further amplified this movement towards offering help on a larger scale. We are glad to be able to help our fellow citizens by bringing them some amount of relief through our initiative.”

Speaking about spearheading the flood relief, RJ Errol commented, “Each year the rains bring with them a lot of floods and it becomes very difficult for the citizens of South India, especially in regions like Coorg and Mangaluru. This year too RJ Shruti and I have tried our best to make medical supplies and food accessible to the families affected by this natural calamity. I want to thank BIG FM for letting us go ahead with this initiative and supporting us in every possible way.”

Commenting on the initiative RJ Shruti said, “These are times that make us realise that there is no bigger religion than humanity and there is only one race that is the human race! Natural calamities are not in our control but to lend a helping hand in times of crisis is definitely within our reach. The kind of love and concern that has been pouring in for the affected families are heart touching. Not sympathy but pure empathy and understanding has helped us reach relief materials to remote areas like villages near the Krishna river. I would like to appeal to humankind to contribute in whatever way possible, even if it is just a prayer! The power of a million prayers can make a BIG impact”

Last year, during major floods that affected Coorg & Kerala, BIG FM Mangalore initiated relief materials and aid for these areas. BIG FM, along with the volunteers, worked towards collecting more than 1 ton of relief materials and was handed over to the coast guard officials. 92.7 BIG FM has always been a frontrunner in extending support to citizens in times of need and will continue to do so in the future too.
