MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi's long standing stranglehold over the metros appears to be weakening, if RAM's week 35 figures are to be believed.

The leader has given way to Big FM in Bangalore for the past couple of weeks, but even in the capital, Fever is giving Mirchi a tough fight for its money. Big FM is also snapping at Mirchi's heels in Kolkata and Red is narrowing the position between itself and the ENIL radio venture in Mumbai, fighting to regain lost glory.

Bangalore: Big FM that has fought its way into the first position in the garden city, lost 1.1 percentage points in week 35 to end the week with a market share of 18.8 per cent. Mirchi struggled to regain first position again, upping 0.2 percentage points, but still ending with a share of 16.1 per cent. Fever's third position was maintained despite the station losing 1.7 percentage points, ending the week with a share of 14 per cent. AIR's FM Rainbow came in fourth with a share of 12.7 per cent, having climbed 0.9 points during the week. Radio City followed close behind with a share of 11.9 per cent, having gained 0.3 points. The revamp appears to have helped SFM which turned Red FM in mid August, with the station ending the week with a share of 9.8 per cent, up 1.7 points over the earlier week.

Delhi: Mirchi's strong hold over the capital weakened further with the station losing 2.2 points and ending the week with a share of 24 per cent, while Fever valiantly fought back, gaining 0.6 points and ending the week with a share of 22.1 per cent. AIR's FM Gold station still stayed ahead of Red FM, Radio City and Radio One with a share of 14.5 per cent.

Kolkata: Mirchi slipped in Kolkata too, losing 0.2 percentage points, ending the week with a share of 19.3 per cent, while Big FM attempted to close in gaining 0.3 percentage points and ending with a share of 17.1 per cent. Friends stayed at third place with a share of 14.6 per cent, but climbed 1.1 points. Aamar, Red, Fever and Meow FM followed, in that order.

Mumbai: All the top three stations in Mumbai slipped during week 35, with Mirchi losing 1.0 points, ending the week with a share of 18.1 per cent. Red FM which has been attempting to regain first position lost 0.1 points and ended with a share of 15.8 per cent. AIR's FM Gold station lost 0.4 points and ended with a share of 13.2 per cent, while Radio City climbed 0.9 percentage points and ended with a share of 12.5 per cent. Big FM too climbed 0.7 percentage points to end with a share of 12 per cent.
