Radio City inches up in Mumbai

MUMBAI: Week One was a slightly turbulent one for radio stations in the metros, going by the RAM data. While Big FM widened its gap over Mirchi in Bangalore, AIR's FM Gold was the station that gained the most in Delhi, coming to rest at a strong third position. In Kolkata, Mirchi turned the tables on Big, widening the margin between itself and Big FM considerably. In Mumbai, it was Radio City which was the biggest gainer, while the top two - Mirchi and Red slipped marginally, but held on to their positions.

Bangalore: Big FM gained 0.3 points, reaching a market share of 19.7 per cent in week one of the new year, while Radio Mirchi slipped 0.1 points, to end with a share of 17.4 per cent. Fever inched up 0.1 points to take away 15.6 per cent share of the market, while Radio City was a distant fourth with 12.2 per cent of the market, having climbed up a marginal 0.1 percentage points.

Delhi: In the capital, both Radio Mirchi and Fever slipped up, but Mirchi kept up its lead position with a share of 25 per cent, far ahead of Fever which took 18.3 per cent share of the market, having lost 0.2 percentage points. AIR FM Gold was a close third with a share of 17.5 per cent of the market, having climbed 0.5 points during the week. Red FM gamely climbed up 0.2 points, but still stayed a poor fourth at 9.2 per cent of the market share. Radio City came up close behind with a share of 8.3 per cent. Big FM is yet to make its mark in the capital, losing 0.1 points and ending with a share of 6.3 per cent of the market, marginally ahead of Radio One.

Kolkata: All the top four stations in the city gained considerably in the first week of the new year, with Mirchi making the maximum gain and ending with a share of 21 per cent, far ahead of Big FM that contended with a share of 16.1 per cent, a climb of 0.1 points during the week. Friends ended the week with a share of 14.6 per cent, and Aamar held on to fourth position with a share of 10.2 per cent. Red FM with a share of 8.1 per cent, was only marginally ahead of Fever which made do with a market share of 7.6 per cent. Radio One that followed with a share of six per cent, was  a mite ahead of Meow FM which took away a 5.3 per cent share of the market.

Mumbai: Both Mirchi and Red slipped up on the margins this week, with Mirchi losing 0.6 points to end with a share of 16.6 per cent and Red endig the week with a share of 13.8 per cent. The gainer was Radio City which upped 0.7 points to end with a share of 13.1 per cent, but had to share the spot with AIR FM Gold which too climbed 0.5 points during the week. Fever took away a share of 12.1 per cent of the market, while Big FM lost 0.3 points to end with a share of 11.6 per cent.
