BlackBerry Torch 9800 debuts in India

MUMBAI: BlackBerry maker Reasearch in Motion (RIM) has launched its first full touchscreen handest BlackBerry Torch 9800, in India, The smartphones sports a physical slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

The handset has a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen. The photo features come with a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash. The 3G ready handset provides a WebKit browser to surf the Internet. One of the major changes in the Torch 9800 is the availability of the BlackBerry 6 OS, which is equipped with all the latest features in addition to crisper visuals, animations and transitions.

The handset has the connectivity options of Bluetooth, WiFi and built-in GPS. It comes with an internal memory of 4 GB which can be extended upto 32 GB using micro SD cards. The exclusive BlackBerry features like BlackBerry Messenger and e-mail are available on the new phone.

Social networking applications like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube application are available. The Li-Ion 1300 mAh battery offers more than 432 h of stand-by time and five hours of talktime.

The high-end smartphone is priced at Rs 35,000.
