Intex targets new handset at rural market

Intex has announced the launch of a new handset- Intex Hero, to target the rural, Tier II and Tier III market in India.

The handset, priced at Rs 2,999, includes features like 5 LED lights, for markets with frequent power cuts. It has 1800mAh rating battery and claims 45 days of stand-by battery life. When fully charged, it also claims a talk time of nine hours. Its other features include FM radio, camera, expandable memory, MP3 audio player, a 1000 contacts phonebook memory.

Announcing the launch, Intex Technologies, DGM-Telecom, Sanjay Kumar said, Out of the total subscriber base for mobile phones, more than a quarter comes from rural India. Intex Hero promises to address their basic needs of convenience and communication and signifies a focused brand line expansion to offer more value to our customers."
