Nokia 6600i arrives in India

The Nokia 6600i slide phone, which had a worldwide release in May, has now been launched in India as well. This phone brings with it a new wardrobe and some upgraded features, the most significant being upgraded camera.

Tucked inside its new brushed steel shell, the Nokia 6600i slide is toting an upgraded 5 megapixel camera with 8X zoom and double flash and auto focus. It also boasts of dual LED flash which helps to capture high-quality snapshots. The brushed steel covers and chrome centre key constitute make it visually appealing and the discreet tap commands brings the display alive with snooze alerts and silence or reject incoming calls.

The handset offers XHTML browser, OMA DRM 1.0 and 2.0, in terms of internet service and Java MIDP 2.0. Using this internet service, users can easily share images as well as videos, which can be recorded with its VGA support at 15 fps and QVGA support at 30 fps. Nokia maps exist to help users navigate through new and unfamiliar places. Its other features include stereo music player, which supports MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+ and WMA, plus FM Radio in stereo headset.

The phone provides WCDMA 850/2100, GSM/EGSM quad-band 850/900/1800/1900 support, based on the series 40 platform. It possesses 2.0 Bluetooth connectivity as well as Micro USB connectivity. The accelerometer for tap commands helps to manage calls and alerts.

The phone possesses 3G connectivity and arrives with 20MB free user memory which can be expanded to as much as 16GB with an additional microSD card slot. Its dimensions are 3.7?—1.8?—0.6 in. and it weighs 3.9 oz. It is available in Black and Silver colours.

The phone is available for around 200 euros in the European market.
