WD launches media player in India

MUMBAI: Western Digital brings to Indian soil its latest version of the WD TV media player. Indians will be able to experience a whole new high with the introduction of the WD TV Mini Media Player.

The latest offering supports RealVideo content from RealNetworks Inc. Customers can even enjoy all their stored digital content directly on a high definition television with up to 1080i HD resolution. The new Media Player seamlessly connects to a home theatre system or TV and plays music, movies and photos that are stored in portable USB drives. It also
plays content from other USB mass storage devices like digital cameras and digital camcorders. The latest product is highly portable in nature and hence can be carried and used just about anywhere.

The WD product supports many varieties of file formats like RealMedia Variable Bitrare (RMVB). It also boasts of rich HD 1080i advanced navigation and user interface. The player also includes DVD-like navigation complete with chapter support, subtitles and trick modes. Thumbnail support includes music album art as well as photo thumbnails. Customers can preview their video during navigation only in 480 and 720 mode.

Content from the consumers' digital image device can be viewed or backed up through the Picture Transfer Protocol feature. It also includes Component and composite video output as well as Digital optical audio output through SPDIF. The WD TV Mini Media Player has a price tag of Rs.6,000 and is backed up with a one year limited warranty.
