Windows Phone 7.8 update for Nokia Lumia 800

MUMBAI: Nokia's Lumia 800 handsets across the globe have finally received the update to Windows Phone 7.8 bringing with it a set of Windows Phone 8 features.
According to reports, Windows 7.8 upgrade for Nokia devices including Nokia Lumia 510, 610, 710, 800 and 900 will follow soon.
The most obvious changes will be more diverse interface customization which will enable to resize Live Tile shortcuts and there will be a total of 20 theme colours to choose from. Windows Phone 7.8 also adds other new lock screen features, the ability to make Google the default search engine within IE and also features two big additions - the Rooms feature and the Xbox Live integration of Windows Phone 8.
On the other hand, Windows Phone 7.8 does not get the new internet explorer 10 as it required hardware acceleration that is absent on the older hardware of the devices running pre Windows 8 operating systems. The upgrade will only bring the speed of the older devices on par with the Windows Phone 8 while giving them a new look and feel overall.
According to a company statement at the end of last month, "Windows Phone 7.8 should be with us in an official capacity early next year". Microsoft also said it was 'working closely with the hardware and carrier partners to get it tested, approved, and rolled out to as many devices as possible in early 2013'.
