MUMBAI: On Mother’s day, Times Music launched ‘Lories 2’.

This music album on Lullaby is an attempt  to revive the beautiful culture of ‘Lories’ to young parents on  the occasion of Mother’s day  and ensure that toddler’s do enjoy their birth right.

This unique initiative is a combined effort of Johnson’s baby bed time, Times Music and Valencia Entertainment.  This music CD contains 7 soulful melodies composed by Anand – Milind. Lori queen Alka Yagnik  along with vibrant Kapil Rauunak has lend their voice for these beautiful lories.

In today’s time when Lories has almost vanished this initiative is truly praise worthy.

For centuries ‘Lories’ (Lullabies) have been an integral component of child rearing in every Indian home irrespective of class, community, religion or standard.

But in today’s fast paced existence this enchanting tradition is forgotten by today’s busily occupied and time constrained parents and missed by the children.

Who can forget the sweet lullabies sung to us by our favorite granny? Ancient Indian folk lore is filled with the most colorful and entertaining ones for almost any occasion. Almost half of our elder generation would swear by that. No wonder that even doctors feel it’s the most beautiful way to pamper new born babies.

But like all things traditional and old these too are losing out to new-age fables and modern bed time stories.

This album on lullaby is an attempt to bring awareness among the new generation parents about the distinguished past of lullabies in India.

With this endeavour we hope to breathe life back to one of the oldest traditions from history for the sake of our younger generation.

A Lori or lullaby in true sense transcends regions and cultures. At the surface level, it performs the very basic function of lulling a child to sleep and at a deeper level; it helps strengthen the bond between a child and caregiver.

Each night as a child is put to bed, the lorie forms a part of a set of bedtime rituals. I take this opportunity to dedicate this music album to my mother and millions of lovely mothers.
