Big FM Kolkata celebrates Women's Day
MUMBAI: Big FM Kolkata, brought in the International Women’s Day celebrations amidst much fanfare with Tollywood’s favourite actress Sudipta Chakraborty.
The unique part of this celebration was the bringing together on one platform women from unconventional and male dominated professions to felicitate them. Those who were honoured today included Suchismita Misra (Inspector Kolkata Police, HQ), Zoe Talukdar (International Level Martial Art Champion), and Papiya Ganguli (Lady Taxi Driver) along with the chief guest, Sudipta Chakraborty. The ladies got together to discuss the challenges they face as professionals in their daily lives. The afternoon was hosted at Hotel Sonnet, Salt Lake.
Originally known as International Working Women’s Day, this day is celebrated across the globe where women from across different strata of the society are appreciated for their spirit; irrespective of their status or stature. On this eventful day Big FM rolled out its red carpet to felicitate some of the unsung champions of society.
With this initiative, Big FM resolved to not just appreciate and applaud these charismatic women for their unvarying contribution to the society, but also establish the need of an atmosphere of constant dialogue and discussion when it comes to the rights and future of women in India.
As an extension to the initiative, Big FM, which has always been on the forefront of social awareness activities, culminated the discussion by gifting their guests and a select few women listeners with a sapling, with the message to facilitate and promote water and energy conservation. The guests also urged all the listeners to take a collective oath to plant a sapling and help save the health and serenity of our Mother Earth.
Big FM business head Ashwin Padmanabhan said, “We, at Big FM, are honored to have these women of substance with us today. International Women’s Day is a celebration of the spirit of womanhood and their contribution to the prosperity of society, both through personal evolution and professional contribution.
