Dr. Balamurali Krishna to Inaugurate Music Fest in City Tomorrow

MUMBAI: Samskara Bharathi, Jandewalan Extension, New Delhi, is organising Rashtreeya Sangeeth Utsav from Feb. 19 to 22 at Nada Mantapa of Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Ashram in Mysore.

Samskara Bharathi is a pan-Indian organisation and renowned in the sphere of culture, heritage and fine arts. Its vision is to protect, improvise all art forms and bring synergy among these including literature, music, dance, drawing, folk art and classical art forms. During its rewarding 27 years of dedicated work and with its 1500 branches, it has its cultural impact on cities, villages and even on various tribes.

Samskara Bharathi has provided a platform to elite Sadhakas of art and young talents alike. The last music festival held was at Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. Its Mysore unit is quite active. Last year the unit held 'Kala Sankula' workshop for musicians, special programmes on Ugadi and Guru Poornima. It is quite appropriate that the latest Sangeeth Utsav is being held at Mysore, the cultural capital of Karnataka, with the co-operation of Kannada and Culture Department.

Many famous and talented young geniuses in music from all over the country are participating. Scholars of different styles and gharanas belonging to the two main schools of music — Karnatak and Hindustani — will confluence here to enshrine our ancient culture through music. Samskara Bharathi has invited about 1000 delegates from all over India. They get the rare guidance from the stalwarts, Vidwans and scholars. Sangeeta Gurus and families with successive achievers from three generations will be felicitated.

Padma Vibhushan Dr. M. Balamurali Krishna will inaugurate the function on Feb. 19 at 5 pm. Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, Mohanji Bhagavat, Secretary, RSS, Yogendraji, Patron, Samskara Bharathi, Agra and Kumble Sundararao, Chairman, Yakshagana Academy are the prominent guests. Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji, Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji of Suttur Mutt and Sri Datta Vijayananda Theertha Swamiji will grace the occasion.

Reputed Artistes like Dr. R.K. Srikantan, Dr. N. Ramani, Ustad Saiyiddin Dagar, O.S. Thyaga-rajan, R.K. Padmanabhan (Bangalore), Ronu Majumdar, Dr. Mysore Manjunath etc. are participating in the festival.

On the concluding day, there will be Nada Sangeeta by Sri Ga-napati Sachchidananda Swamiji and group singing of Thya-garaja's Pancharathna Kritis in the morning.
