Lucknow's Radio City 91.1FM's 'Bye Bye Thand' brings warmth to needy in Kudia Ghat
MUMBAI: Following the resounding success �Bye Bye Thand' in January last year, Lucknow's Radio City 91.1FM joined hands with The Indian Red Cross Society once again this year for �Bye Bye Thand – A City Smile Initiative'. This unique campaign now in its second consecutive year, set out to support slum dwellers of Kudia Ghat with a generous helping hand from the people of Lucknow.
On Friday, Jan 16, 2009, Lucknow's Radio City 91.1FM and The Indian Red Cross Society, UP State Branch donated woollen clothes, ranging from blankets, cardigans, gloves, mufflers, socks, shawls to the needy people of Kudia Ghat, one of the largest slum areas of Lucknow. Lucknow's most loved RJs - RJ Vera (Whatte Fun Mornings) and RJ Gaurav (�Aat ki Chaat' on City Joyride) along with listeners and members of the Red Cross Society visited the slum area to present the collected items to the people. The FM station also aired LIVE updates of the proceedings with RJ Puja on Hum Tum.

Extending warmth among the lesser privileged people this winter, Lucknow Radio City 91.1FM's �Bye Bye Thand' started off from January 6, 2009 on �Whatte Fun Mornings' (7-11AM) with RJ Vera. Listeners were invited to wholeheartedly donate woollens for this cause which would be dropped off at various collection points like Chhappan Bhog outlets, Sindh Cloth House, Riverside Mall, Universal Booksellers and Red Cross Society of India. The response was tremendous and thousands of clothes were dropped at these collection points! These clothes all in excellent condition, ranged from woolens of all sizes – from women's wear to children's wear, blankets, cardigans, gloves, mufflers, socks and shawls.
