Rabindranath Tagore's Jayanti celebration at Big FM, Kolkata

MUMBAI: Big FM Kolkata with the true spirit of Bangaliana... celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore with its listeners live on air from Jorasanko Thakurbari, the hub of all cultural activities for those who love Gurudev. It was for the first time that any radio station went live from Jorasanko- the birthplace of the noble laureate. On air it was undiluted Rabindra Sangeet  interspersed with artistes and listeners going live on air singing and reciting poems with their beloved RJ Sumanto and RJ Koushik from 7A.M to 12 P.M. The on air and on ground activities took the listeners to the golden era.

The radio station teamed up with Jorasanko Thakurbari for the celebration where music, skits, dramas, traditional songs and dances were performed from dawn to dusk. Local artists performed and live updates were shared with the listeners 

This very special morning was made even more Life Jamao with BIG FM as the No 1 FM station network arranged a special screening of Choker Bali at Bioscope, Axis Mall, New Town, for its listeners.

The people of Kolkata may love their discos and lap up Bollywood-Hollywood through the year, but on Pochishe Baishakh... only one name ruled their hearts – the famous bard of Bengal, Rabindranath Tagore, whose 150th birth anniversary it was.
