Regional player Mango bags IRF award

MUMBAI: Adding another feather to its cap, Kerala's number one private FM network Radio Mango 91.9 became to only regional player to bag the prestigious Indian Excellence in Radio Awards 2009 at the India Radio Forum held at Taj Land's End, Mumbai on Wednesday 27th May '09 . Radio Mango won the award for the Best Interactive Idea for its hugely popular segment Mockscar Award. Aired during the Oscar season, Mockscar Award was a light hearted take on Oscar Awards to celebrate mediocre Malayalam movies. The segment had received tremendous response with over 17000 listeners voting  across a two week span, for their favourite... movies of the year. Earlier, Radio Mango had won several accolades like WOW Awards for ground activation, Pepper Awards for creative campaigns and had also entered the Limca Book of Records for its innovative on-ground reality show, 'Naatile Thaaram.'

The Excellence in Radio Awards is an internationally recognized benchmark of excellence for programming, radio talent, marketing & promotions and advertising. Other winners at IRF include Red FM with 10 awards, Radio Mirchi with 8 awards and Big FM with 6 awards. Incidentally, Radio Mango is the only regional player to bag the award in a national category.
