Vidya Balan launches Rabindra sangeet album

MUMBAI: National award winner actor, Vidya Balan, launched Asha audio's latest Rabindrasangeet album ‘Dukhho Rakhi Sukh O’ by Sohini Mukhopadhyay (Paula). Actor, Rituparna Sengupta & music director, Debojyoti Mishra, who has arranged the music for this album, were also present for the occasion.

‘Dukhho Rakhi Sukh O’ is a unique Rabindrasangeet album which promises to touch millions of hearts with the mellifluous rendition of Sohini. The songs are blended with Sohini’s own words reflecting on the philosophies of life derived from Tagore’s works. Veteran actor, Sreela Majumdar has brilliantly brought these transcriptions alive through her voice over.

“Time and again I have been fascinated by Rabindrasangeet. ‘Dukkho Rakhi Sukh O’ is my very dear friend Paula’s first Tagore solo album. She is a fantastic singer. My best wishes to her and I do believe that everybody will love listening to this album”, said Vidya Balan.

The album comprises of ten classic Rabindrasangeet like Koto Baro Bhebechinu Apona Bhuliya, Dure Kothao, Dure Dure, Abar Tor Mora Gange Baan Aseche, etc. Sohini grew up amidst the natural beauty and music of Shantiniketan. From childhood, she learnt Tagore songs from her Pishimoni, the legendary Rabindrasangeet singer, Kanika Bandhopadhyay. Music is her love! At the age of 11 she recorded Kalmrigya under the guidance of her Pishimoni. Apart from singing she worked in Mumbai with renowned film director, Pradeep Sarkar and sung many ad jingles for Shantanu Moitra, Sameeuddin, Monty Sharma & many more.
