Young Flute Maestros mesmerize rapt Delhi audience

 

NEW DELHI: Young flute maestros aged between eleven and seventeen charmed listeners over the weekend with their rendition of some complex ragas and compositions with the flute.

The young flute players, disciples of Rajkishore Dalbehera, were performing to pay tribute to Pt. Prakash Narayan Saxena on his 81st birthday in an evening organized by the Neelanchal Trust.

The cynosure of all eyes was the youngest flute player Master Chamu Shiva Shastry, 11, who has been learning the flute since the age of two. He has been awarded the National Scholarship under the Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Scheme of Government of India. Apart from expertise in flute, he has a good command over five different languages.

The next performance was by 10th class student Bhargav Bhat who is learning flute for the last 8 years under the guidance of Guru Shri Rajkishore Dalbehera. Apart from India, he has given performances in different countries like Germany and the United States.

Adit Ravi who is a known artist from Gujarat has given solo performances at various important music festivals such as Saptak... festival held at Ahmedabad in 2009 and 2011. Siddharth Dalbehera who is the son of Rajkishore Dalbehera and teaches the flute in an international school also performed.

The evening ended with a Jugalbandi between Bhargav and Siddharth accompanied by tabla players Shantibhushan Jha and Anil Kumar and Deewan Singh on the Tanpura
