9X to launch metro vs rural talent show 'Chak De Bachche'

MUMBAI: It seems like Hindi general entertainment channels (GEC) are reserving weekends for reality shows. Following the trend, INX Media's 9X is coming up with another dance-and-music reality show Chak De Bachche.

Albeit with a change: the reality talent show will pitch metros vs rural areas. Produced by Gajendrra Siingh's Saibaba Telefilms, this bi-weekly show is slotted for weekends.Said Siingh, "Every other talent show has participants from metros or big cities, but that doesn't mean talent is not there in the rural areas. And that's why we are exploring the rural areas to find out and hone the talented children."

The show will have two groups "metro" and "village," each containing six teams. Each team comprising one boy and one girl has to show their talent in singing, dancing and acting.

INX Media founder-CEO Indrani Mukerjea said, "9X will soon launch a dance-and-music extravaganza titled Chak De Bachche that will showcase exciting young talent from across the country. Conceived and directed by Gajendrra Siingh, this bi-weekly show will air on the weekends, and will put the spotlight on the best talent among the 8 to 14 age group."

Auditions for the show will take place across 40 to 50 cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Indore, Raipur, Jaipur and Varanasi.

When asked about the format, Siingh said: "There will be public vote, and we are finalising on the judges."

"We will have participants who are excellent in not just singing and singing, but also acting¦ for Chak De Bachche we will try to seek out complete performers," he added.
