Bappi Lahiri in 2012 Grammy awards jury
MUMBAI: Bappi Lahiri, who pioneered disco beats in India with his refreshing, vibrant, and rhythmic music for decades, has added another feather to his cap by becoming the first Indian composer to be in the Grammy jury for the awards in 2012.
Confirming the same Lahiri avers, "I will be a jury member in the Grammy awards next year who vote to decide a winner. I am elated....
This year, Lahiri's English album "World, Peace And harmony" was sent to the Grammy; it got him a spot in the top 50 Grammy albums but lost out on the top five nominations.
In the album released only in the US, the 58-year-old composer collaborated with popular saxophone player Gerald Albright, played the tabla and also sang a few songs.
This year the Grammy Awards will be presented on 13 February at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
