Devotional singer 'Shivali' aims to top I-tunes chart with 2nd album

MUMBAI: The rising star of devotional genre, Shivali, whose debut album ‘The Bhajan Project’ reached iTunes top ten world chart is back on the music front with her second album. The spiritual singer is all set to release her album ‘Urban Temple’ through Eros International.
The music platform of the label ‘Eros Now Music’ will also release two videos ‘Hari Sundar’ and ‘Vaishnav Janto’ of the album. Comprising of nine tracks, the album features singer’s favorite mantras and bhajans penned by MiraBai. An upcoming young flautist ‘Anuj Ghaghada’ has also contributed to the album. The outro of the album is originally sung by Guru Morari Bapu and the tracks are produced by Arjun. The singer claims that she has stretched music beyond boundaries bringing together all instruments, sounds and genres in a hope to recognize the oneness of almighty.
Speaking about the album, Shivali said, “As me and my friend/producer Arjun believe that music resides within the temple of devotion and spirituality. Each song in the album is laced with love and is humbly dedicated to the Lord however it is wrapped in a completely unique style to make it hopefully attractive to everyone world-wide. This is my second and most precious gift to my beloved and anyone who would like to hear it.”
After achieving success by exploring the digital medium, the singer believes that it is a great opportunity for the artistes but physical sales are also important as the older generation still prefers to buy CDs. “It is great to have music released digitally on iTunes, Amazon etc, these are huge giants globally and you don’t want to miss out on that. But you need physical release as well because it is mostly young people who buy music online, a lot of the older generation still go out and buy an album. Also, a physical CD is a matter of pride it is like a book, you want to hold it, open it, read the inlay. You want to keep it on your CD shelf and take it down on a rainy day. In my line of work both are important to me personally and to my sales,” she added.
The singer who aspires to become actress/dancer in Bollywood started her journey with producer Arjun. Shivali’s first album was launched under Sony Music and has received great response digitally as well as physically. Commenting on her first album she stated, “We received positive and heart-warming response. It reached the iTunes top ten world chart which was a great achievement for a devotional album and also managed to do well in physical sales. I think people could connect with it, they felt it was relatable to their modern life but it was in keeping with the truthful nature of devotional music. Also it was different and a lot of people appreciated that I wasn’t trying to change anything but was just giving things a fresh sound.”
