Fever Kolkata station head Pralay Bakshi quits

MUMBAI: Fever 104 FM's Kolkata station head Pralay Bakshi has resigned from his responsibilities and put his papers yesterday. Bakshi won't be serving any notice period and has completed his venture with HT Media's radio venture Fever FM.

Confirming the move, Fever FM national marketing head and Delhi station head Neeraj Chaturvedi says, Pralay Bakshi has been heading our Kolkata station for more than a year and wanted to be in Delhi to join his family. Handling the Kolkata station has been added to my responsibility and I would be looking at the working on the station in the interim.... Apart from being the national marketing head, Chaturvedi now would be the station head for Fever FM's Delhi and Kolkata stations.

A musician himself, Bakshi who joined Fever FM in May 2007 says, he would be concentrating on music production and freelancing before joining any radio venture. Affirms Bakshi, I quit as I decided to do something on my own and concentrate on music. I plan to launch an album soon and would be devoting time for that. Apart from that, I would be doing voice overs, music and audio production. I will not be looking at radio options, until I stumble upon something exciting enough to grab.... Bakshi had in July 2008 launched a musical single, Ek Kaagaz' over the web in collaboration with San Francisco based singer Devika.

Sources mention that Bakshi was allotted the position of Head of Business solutions for Fever FM's Mumbai station and hence decided to quit.

Radioandmusic.com has earlier mentioned about Fever's Kolkata station to undergo transition post Navratri. Talking about the changes made, Chaturvedi says, We haven't completely repositioned our Kolkata station but have buffered our music mix according to our in-house research....

Bakshi joined Fever in May 2007 as Delhi Programming head and was appointed as Kolkata station head in July 2008. At Kolkata, Bakshi's responsibilities included heading sales and marketing functions and overall responsibility for administration, finance and programming.

Bakshi joined Fever after completing his European MA in Media, Communication and Cultural Studies from the University of London and University of Aarhus, Denmark.

His first stint in radio sector was in 2000 as the radio producer and presenter with Radio City, Mumbai. He was in the core team of Radio City during its launch in Phase 1 when FM radio underwent privatization. Post Radio City, he was radio presenter and producer in 2002 for UAE based Radio 4. In early 2005, he joined Sunrise Radio London, and was subsequently made the Programme Controller for its sister station Kismat Radio.
