MUMBAI: It was hardly a surprise that iconic composer A R Rahman was adjudged Global Icon of the Year at the ongoing Ficci Excellence Awards 2010.

Rahman, whose appearance at the event was a closely guarded secret till the last day, said in his acceptance speech, "I am glad I made it. It's a new experience."

Earlier in the evening, Pritam bagged the Most Successful Album of the Year for the 2009 hit Love Aaj Kal. The awards mark the culmination of the three day Ficci Frames 2010 convention held in Mumbai 

In the radio category, Radio Mirchi walked away the Best Station award.
